Curriculum

All of the below elective modules are available to study in London according to demand. A selection of the elective modules are available to study in Liverpool. For further information please email northwest@stmellitus.ac.uk

Core modules
The course begins with three core modules:

  • Christian Theology (please note that for this module, MA in Christian Leadership students are co-taught alongside MA in Theology, Ministry and Mission students)
  • Christian Leadership
  • The Theology of Power

Elective modules
Students then choose one of a range of elective modules relating to their chosen career or vocation:

  • Christian Theology in the Context of Leadership: Science
  • Christian Theology in the Context of Leadership: Business and Economics
  • Christian Theology in the Context of Leadership: Culture and the Arts
  • Christian Theology in the Context of Leadership: Church
  • Christian Theology in the Context of Leadership: Spirituality
  • Christian Theology in the Context of Leadership: Politics
  • Christian Theology in the Context of Leadership: Medicine
  • Christian Theology in the Context of Leadership: Media

Each of these encourages the student to explore the links between Christian theology and their chosen field, distinctive insights Christian theology offers in each area, and what Christian leadership might look like in each sphere.

Dissertation
The final piece of work is a 15,000 word dissertation on a subject of the student’s choice. This enables them to explore an aspect of Christian Leadership in whatever context they work or will work, in the light of Christian theology.

Written assignments comprise the majority of assessment for the Christian Leadership MA, and most of these are essays, but they also include other written assessments like reflective journals and book reviews. Students also have some oral presentations.
