St Mellitus College is pleased to announce that Revd Ed Olsworth-Peter has been appointed as Director of Innovation and Development for St Mellitus College.
This senior leadership position has responsibility for supporting the development of the formational and pastoral work of the College across our national life, cultivating a vision for innovation in the delivery of training, seeking to connect context, empower cultural engagement and foster transforming mission. Ed will be based in our London Centre where he will also serve as Assistant Host providing oversight and leadership alongside the Centre Director.
Revd Russell Winfield (Dean of St Mellitus College) says: “Ed has an established relationship with the College over a number of years, and now that he will be joining the team it is further evidence of the exciting season we are in. Ed brings experience and knowledge information, leadership and mission, as well as clear giftings and passions to raise up and empower others. He has a creative and pioneering spirit, and as an experienced pastor I know we have much to learn and benefit from him.”
Ed is currently the National Advisor for Pioneer Development for the Church of England based in the National Ministry Formation Team, where he has worked for the past 3 years. His role has been to support Diocesan Senior Staff Teams, Theological Colleges and Anglican Pioneer Networks to develop a comprehensive and integrated vision, strategy and practice for pioneer ministry in the Church of England. Ed has extensive experience and strategic understanding of the structures and training pathways of the Church of England and has contributed to the development of the new national discernment and formation pathways. Prior to this he worked as Diocesan Advisor for Fresh Expressions and Young Adults in the Diocese of Ely and has served as a Training Incumbent in parish ministry and as a Pioneer and West End Theatre Chaplain, in the dioceses of Southwark, London and Guildford. Ed is a trained coach, has written and delivered teaching programmes for IME2 and CMD pathways across the national Church and he is an experienced conference and events speaker.
Revd Ed Olsworth-Peter says: “I am delighted to be taking up the post as Director of Innovation and Development and am looking forward to the possibilities that this newly created role will bring to St Mellitus. I believe that the future of the Church will be shaped by the training of its leaders and formation must therefore respond to a changing world in a dynamic and innovative way. This will involve creating training and ministerial development pathways that reflect a diversity of students and that are transformative rather than transactional. It will need to enable each future leader to be confident and effective in their calling to transform their communities for the Kingdom of God, in response to a post-pandemic world. I am passionate about the ministerial formation and reshaping the church mission within a mixed ecology and I am excited to be working with students and staff to empower them to inhabit the ministry to which God has called them.
Ed will be taking up his role in early August.
