We asked some of our Senior Students what they love about studying at St Mellitus College. See their responses below:
It is a great place to develop the skills and tool set for future ministry
St Mellitus College is a unique place to study theology. One of the things I love most about being here is that it is a great place to develop the skills and toolset for my future ministry. Absolutely everyone at the college is willing you on to succeed. The faculty and staff have extensive experience both as theologians and as practitioners so, if there's a particular area in which you are seeking to grow - whether that's public speaking, written communication or a specific area of theology - they are more than happy to help. You only have to ask.

We step into the week and into the day of study in the context of worship
One of the best things about studying at St Mellitus College is that whatever the past weekend has been like, whether busy leading parish ministry or chasing toddlers, we step into the week and into a day of study in the context of worship. Beginning and ending our days of teaching in worship together and prayer for each other and our communities means that we’re making God the main thing amongst all the other busyness of training, assignments and ministry. It has also meant that once a week students come and receive in an act of worship - a small joy for most busy church workers!

The college... equips you to lead and guide his people into his presence across the diversity of the Church of England
One thing you will hear a lot of when you study at St Mellitus College is the college’s ethos towards generous orthodoxy. Before I started my ordination training I came from an evangelical charismatic background and had very limited experience of the diversity of the Church of England, especially towards the more traditional and anglo-catholic forms of worship. By training at St Mellitus College, with their focus towards a generous orthodoxy form of study and worship, it has not only allowed me to become more comfortable and familiar with other types of worship, but also to experience God in a new and exciting way. That is one of the reasons why I love studying at St Mellitus College. The college not only allows you to experience God in a varied and beautiful way, but also equips you to lead and guide His people into His presence across the diversity of the Church of England.

What we learn in the classroom we can take directly into context
Theology at St Mellitus College takes on a new life, as those who train do so in context, this gives the added benefit that what we learn in the classroom we can take directly into context and what we encounter in context we can discuss in the classroom. I have found that the study and practice of theology in 'real time' has allowed me to begin translating theoretical knowledge into practical application while it is fresh in my mind. This approach has also given me insight into the actual issues that people live with in my context, and the theological issues with which they struggle. Understanding these has allowed me, where possible, to focus my studies on areas that will speak into context and allow people to engage with God and wth their questions about faith. Because of this I have found the study of Theology at St Mellitus College to be incredibly exciting, enriching and empowering.
