Revd Dr Andrew Emerton is Dean of St Mellitus College. He is passionate about leadership formation within the life of the church and the development of Christian character at the heart of healthy, effective and sustained ministry. Andy holds a Masters in Theology & Ministry and a doctorate in Theoretical Physics and prior to ordination worked in scientific and technical consultancy and then youth ministry. He has been involved with St Mellitus College since its earliest days, joining the staff team in 2008 and becoming Dean in 2015. Andy teaches in the areas of the Bible, Ministry and Christian Leadership.
Andy has previously served on London Diocesan Synod, London Diocesan Bishop's Council and London Diocesan Finance Committee. Since 2015 he has been an elected member of the General Synod of the Church of England as part of the House of Clergy.
Andy grew up in Chester and has maintained his northern links as a keen supporter of Liverpool FC. He is married to Liz, a science teacher, and they have three growing children. He loves sport, in particular tennis and golf.
